Christian Family Life Sunday School
Sundays, 9:00 a.m. Join a small group study! Come in earlier Sunday morning and join the Christian Family Life class! We start with a pot of coffee and sharing, meeting until 10:00 a.m. You can find us in the library behind the office. Come join us any Sunday. We’d love to welcome you!
Enter the courtyard (north of the Sanctuary) through the double iron gates that face South Blvd. Walk around to your right until you come to the library. Study topics vary.
Our class members are a mix of ages and backgrounds, but we share a very supportive fellowship and study a varied array of materials in seeking to strengthen our walk with God. We believe Christian community is a great way to learn, to push each other to grow in our walk, to keep each other honest, and to prop each other up! We regularly use materials from a variety of sources, some including videos, oftentimes linked to the church season, such as Lent or Advent.
Fridays, 7:30 a.m. in Success House. Studies and leaders vary.
Are you looking for an opportunity to study and learn where God wants to lead you in your life, with a supportive and encouraging fellowship? Do you yearn for a chance to really expand your horizon and ask the hard questions about God and the Christian walk? Can't find the time in your schedule for a small group study?
The Early Bird Class might be just the thing for you! We meet very early - - from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. sharp - - and we tackle a lot of difficult questions for such an early time. Often our studies involve some video content, with a book to read together and discussion to follow.
Frequently we have daily Bible readings which lead up to the weekly discussion. We've tackled such knotty issues as forgiveness, hospitality, how Christians look at the world's religions, confronting "Pharoah" in the world - - a lot of very interesting and provocative studies!
Free Thinkers Class
Sundays, 9:00 a.m. in Room 8. A range of topics is studied with the class being discussion oriented. New studies start every six to eight weeks.
The class has examined such topics as the Book of Revelation, "a brief history of God," and "is there a God part of the brain?". Current authors that have been read and studied include retired Episcopal Bishop, J. Shelby Spong; Dr. Bart D. Erhman, the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; and Henry H. Knight, III, professor, St. Paul School of Theology.
The format of the class is a discussion that is lively, iconoclastic, and thought provoking. All contributions are accepted and dissected with love and caring. Join us in Room 8 at 9:15 a.m. The coffee will be perking!
